Leaving the pretty village of Las Vegas this walk first follows the old Camino de Las Vegas, then a rough rural road to an old water mill. Crossing a hugely scenic barranco we encounter a partly ruined goat farm at El Seco where there are spectacular views of the Barranco del Rio, before a very pleasant return through open pines and terraces.

Mostly in pine forest, but with opportunities for great views, this is an interesting walk with almost 400m overall ascent, to the desolate finca at Icerse, almost 1,300m above sea level, looking down on Taucho, just off a rough road that eventually reaches the Teide National Park.

A short, if at times strenuous, walk, taking different outward and return routes on ancient paths between the old settlements of Chio and Chiquergue in Guia de Isora. Great rural, coastal and mountain views complement the charm of many old buildings encountered along the way.

An invigorating walk with almost 400 metres overall ascent, that takes in the rural terraces and vineyards around Taucho, high above Adeje, before entering a delightful wooded barranco, returning through the beautiful but fire-scarred pine forest near the Casa Aserradero.

This is a fairly undemanding walk in a unique natural environment where life flourishes despite the depredations of fairly recent volcanic eruptions and forest fires. Great views of Montaña Chenyero, El Teide, and the southern flank of the Teno Mountains.

A varied and strenuous hike to Las Manchas and back on old stony “caminos” taking in rural terraces, pine trees and lava fields. Great views to Teide and of the southern Teno Mountains. The last 2 kilometres involve an impressive traverse of La Hoya, above the El Bicho tunnels.

A great return walk up to the pretty hamlet of Las Fuentes, abandoned by its residents in the 1970s. We walk from the hill village of Vera de Erques, which is decked in flowers all year round. The paths are rough and stony but the walk is a hugely satisfying all round experience.
