Route Summary
At around 300 m overall ascent, there is a fair bit of up and down on this walk on rocky old caminos. The distance is short, however, and the scenic value is absolutely top notch, with spectacular panoramas at every turn on the track. Highly recommended!

(100) Valle de Arriba-Vaguada de los Ovejeros Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
A relatively strenuous but highly recommended half-day hike in the hills above Valle de Arriba. With lots of rural interest along the way, there are tremendous views of the Teno Mountains and Teide in the first half, later giving way to glimpses of the North of the island.

(97) Arguayo-Ermita Angel-Las Cabezadas Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
Although not long, this route provides marvellous viewpoints on the initial ascent of twin-peaked La Hoya. After visiting a little ermita, the 2nd half of the walk ascends on old lava flows to the pines. The return is notable for the terraced tiers of former farm-land and “eras”.

Route Summary
This is a moderate walk in a unique natural environment where life flourishes despite the depredations of fairly recent volcanic eruptions and forest fires. There are great views of Montaña Chenyero, El Teide and Pico Viejo along the way.

Route Summary
This is a moderate walk both in distance and overall ascent that provides satisfyingly different perspectives on the amazingly diverse scenery this area of the island has to offer. A very good introduction to walking in the Tamaimo area of the Santiago del Teide municipality.

(83) Tamaimo-Puerto Santiago Linear (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
This walk is mostly downhill, especially in the first half, taking the old rural pathway from Tamaimo. The second part of the walk provides a short tour of Los Gigantes and Puerto Santiago, taking in some of the best viewpoints in the linked holiday resorts.

(81) Chio-Arguayo Circular (Guia de Isora/Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
The walk heads uphill out of Chio into open forest on an old camino. On a good day there are stunning views of the island of La Gomera. The descent towards the interesting village of Arguayo is pretty. The lower level return route allows great views of the south-western coast.

(77) Valle de Arriba-Los Partidos Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
This moderate walk climbs out of Valle de Arriba to go around the forested conical peak of Montaña Tomaseche. There is a pleasant and interesting potential stop-off at the Casa Rural of Los Partidos before the returning descent, overlooking the scenic vale of Santiago del Teide.

(73) Arguayo-La Hoya Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
This 6.6 km walk, with 487 m overall ascent, circles the rocky mass of Montaña La Hoya, its comms masts providing a compelling landmark over the west coast, and its El Bicho tunnels providing a gateway to the north. Always, the views to every side are absolutely tremendous.

(68) Las Manchas-Ermita San Angel-Mt Bilma Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
The walk rises out of Las Manchas on old paths, soon passing a little Ermita at a prominent vantage point, before climbing up, alongside, and across the Chinyero lava fields that almost devastated the area in 1909. Great views are a feature of this walk on every step of the way.

A very good half-day walk with a reasonably strenuous 435 m overall ascent on mostly very stony paths. There are great views, from very different aspects, in each section of the route. This is a highly recommended introduction to walking in the Tamaimo area!

Route Summary
A short circular route on old caminos providing the opportunity to visit El Retamar, Santiago del Teide and El Molledo, high above the tourist hot-spots in Los Gigantes. Lots of great views, including an optional visit to the site of an old spring above Santiago del Teide.
