Description
*** In Sep 2022 we have had a report that the route is now blocked by a fence***
This walk from Amarilla Golf is mostly on open ground with good all around views. Although an excellent leg-stretcher, the overall ascent is only around 200 m, making it easier than many of our routes in terms of the climb involved. The walk starts and finishes amidst green fairways and associated golf-course real estate before entering a wild landscape with eroded rock formations approaching Montaña Los Erales, Malpais scrub (“badlands”), and volcanic cones. You also encounter abandoned farms, plantations and terraces before diverting to the church and plaza in the centre of the small town of Guargacho. Returning to the open ground, the walk takes you to a “trig point” on the top of Montaña Malpasito with marvellous 360° views. From there you head down to the pretty sea-front between Costa del Silencio and Amarilla Golf. The final section of the walk follows a low barranco, alongside the golf course, back to the start near the Amarilla Golf club-house.

I have been on ViewRanger for nearly 2 years and still find it a bit complicated. But I have to take my hat off to the two intrepid Tenerife explorers who have guided me on many routes. This time my iWatch beeped me 30 metres before every decision point with excellent guidance on the route to take. I would love to meet up with the couple that do these routes and thank them personally.
Is that possible by email?
Thanks to all
