On a bright day there are great coastal and mountain views on this “there and back” route from little known east-coast settlement of La Jaca to the popular seaside town of Abades. The paths can be very rough and the steep ups and downs, in places, are a test of stamina.

(77) Valle de Arriba-Los Partidos Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
This moderate walk climbs out of Valle de Arriba to go around the forested conical peak of Montaña Tomaseche. There is a pleasant and interesting potential stop-off at the Casa Rural of Los Partidos before the returning descent, overlooking the scenic vale of Santiago del Teide.

Mostly on rough roads, with easy ascents and descents, this return walk provides fascinating and often awe-inspiring landscapes in all directions. At the mid-point we visit the closed-up and intriguing El Sanatorio buildings hidden away in the middle of the National Park.

A short, if at times strenuous, walk, taking different outward and return routes on ancient paths between the old settlements of Chio and Chiquergue in Guia de Isora. Great rural, coastal and mountain views complement the charm of many old buildings encountered along the way.

(50) Ifonche-Fuente de las Pilas Circular (Adeje)

Route Summary
This is a very pleasant walk in the rural setting of Ifonche heading out to a charming and verdant spring in the depths of Barranco del Rey. The surrounding volcanic mountains and barrancos provide a jaw-dropping backdrop at a number of places throughout the walk.

(47) Playa Paraiso-El Puertito Circular (Adeje)

Route Summary
A short coastal walk to the popular and pretty secluded hamlet of Puertito on Costa Adeje. The return route passes by the colourful Bahia Principe hotel and Dzamling Gar Tibetan yoga centre. Some fine views in all directions.

(38) Granadilla-San Miguel Linear (Granadilla)

Route Summary
This is a downhill linear walk on the ancient “camino real” (royal road) connecting Granadilla and San Miguel. Wide open views are a feature of the route and there are some interesting places to check out along the way.
