Description
This walk provides an opportunity to check out the interesting and historic market town of Guia de Isora, in the west of Tenerife, at the start and end point of the route. Both the ascent (over 400 m) and descent take you through a fascinating volcanic landscape that, nonetheless, has been exploited through the centuries for its agricultural potential. Amongst the stone-walled terraces you will encounter a number of abandoned threshing circles (“eras”) and stone/brick ovens. The village of Chirche is charming and picturesque, and the climb up to the Mirador will be rewarded by great views all around, to the mountains behind, down to Chirche, Guia and the coast, and across to La Gomera and La Palma if the visibility is good.
