Our Walking Wonderland …!
Today we completed our 108th walk for our Tenerife Sur self-guided walks website. It’s been a wonderful and exhilarating experience. Next week we return to live in Scotland, with lots of ideas for new walking adventures in a very different landscape and climate. On a rough tally-up, and not counting our initial 8 months checking out the island and our occasional walks in the North, we reckon we’ve walked over 500 miles on our trails in the South of the island – equivalent to hiking from Aberdeen to London! Of course, Tenerife is a mountainous island, so the going has been very up and down – we reckon about 35,500 metres overall ascent – that’s 4 times up Mount Everest! And, we’ve taken approximately 6,500 photos along the way. Time now for a cool beer or two – but we’re not counting how many of them there’s been …   http://walktenerifesur.eu/

Keeping the Best for Last …!
It was our final walk here on the island today! Around Aripe and Chirche hill villages and the Guia de Isora countryside, we knew it would be good one and saved it for last. Perfect weather was the icing on the cake …

Chance Meeting Auto and Charlie …!
Our final walk on the island was made extra special today when I bumped into ex-K9 residents, Auto and Charlie. Auto, so nervous and frightened of strangers, had been at K9 for 8 long years. Then Keith and Sue came along. They worked hard together and, after many months, Auto went to live with them. Charlie, Auto’s room-mate and best friend, went with him of course, and they’re both doing just fine …

Walk (106) Vento-Camino Viejo Adeje Circular (Arona)
Setting out under the towering mass of Roque del Conde, this walk offers some fantastic views in all directions. Walk (105) Arico Viejo-Bco Atalaya-Arico Nuevo Circular (Arico)
This is a pleasant walk on the gentle slopes of former farmland beneath the town of Arico Viejo. All around there are terraces of golden stone. This walk provides an excellent opportunity to view the wonderful Tajinaste Rojo, or Mount Teide Bugloss, with its shimmering mass of red flowers. Mid-May to mid-June is the best time to see the Tajinaste plants in full flower. Also, there are wonderful mountain views throughout the walk. Happily, this is an easy little hike that is suitable for walkers of all abilities …
