There are marvellous views on this walk – of the surrounding ancient volcanic landscape, the pleasant rural countryside around Arona, and down to the coast. However, the mid-section is rough walking on an, at times, unclear path, so is not recommended for inexperienced hikers.

At 5km, with a very manageable overall ascent of 172m, this is a very accessible walk, close to the resorts and residential areas in the S of Tenerife. There are great views of the countryside and many close-by towns, but particularly of the grand and rugged volcanic landscape.

This is an enjoyable walk in the rural landscape above the historic town of Arona. A fairly steep ascent of 350 m is followed by a level traverse with wonderful views down to the coast. An ancient shrine kicks off a very scenic descent through terraced farmland.

This is a deceptively energetic hike, with many ups and downs, giving an overall ascent of 400+ m over 8.2 km. Since Los Cristianos is one of the sunniest parts of Tenerife, it makes a good choice, giving clear, open views, when the higher areas of the island are under cloud.

This walk, encircling the imposing pinnacle of Roque Imoque, near Ifonche, has some very special views. There is a constant, gradual ascent to the turning point overlooking Barranco Fañabe at 977 m high. Echoes of rural life from times gone by are everywhere along the route.

From a modest and unassuming start-point in Aldea Blanca, this soon becomes a very scenic and interesting walk, much of it on an ancient track that connected both Guanche and Spanish communities in times past.

A fine coastal walk to the most southern point on Tenerife, with an interesting diversion to the settlement of El Fraile, and a great opportunity to appreciate the many attractions of seaside town, Las Galletas.

A tremendous town walk around Los Cristianos, with the added bonus of ascending little Montaña Chayofita, giving great all-around views of the mountains behind, and the coastline and holiday cities of Los Cristianos/ Las Americas/ Costa Adeje.

A walk above the main southern resorts, from La Camella, dropping to Chayofa, then ascending to above Jungle Park before returning. Great views to Los Cristianos and Las Americas.

A stiff climb is required to reach the 400+ m high summit of Montana Guaza. Certainly not a stroll in the park, but the rewards for those who stay the distance are spectacular views in all directions, especially towards the hills.
