Walk (97) Arguayo-Ermita Angel-Las Cabezadas Circular (Santiago del Teide)
This little hike has some classic views. As you climb to the saddle between the twin peaks of La Hoya, a marvellous perspective starts to unfold along the west of the island, and of Teide and Pico Viejo. There are then spectacular views of the Teno Mountains and the Santiago del Teide area. The descent back to Arguayo from a lava field and pine forest is notable for the tiers of former farm terraces and threshing circles, now long abandoned …

The Blue Mountains …
Low cloud covered most of the island yesterday. As we headed out we could see a corner of blue sky to the north west of us. Quickly changing our plans we headed for the hill village of Arguayo, under clear skies. And so it remained for the duration of our walk, which meant we were treated to some pretty fine wide-open mountain views …

If you are interested, here’s a link to a slideshow of photos from the walk, taking you on a tour of the route from start to finish. It may be a little slow to get started … !

Walk (96) La Quinta-Los Llanos Circular (Adeje)
This is an easy and short walk with a low level of overall ascent. Nonetheless, it has many of the attractive components we’ve come to associate with walking in the hills of the south of Tenerife …

All Inclusive … !
As we’re both protecting minor walking-related injuries, today’s little hike from La Quinta was probably the shortest and easiest we’ve ever added to our collection. Still, it was a joy, and had all the components I’ve come to associate with walking in the hills of “El Sur” (the south of Tenerife), in no particular order – an old church – views of Teide – Roque del Conde (photo-bombing) – aromatic pine forests – old stone threshing circles (eras) – ruined fincas – rough paths – blue skies – glimpses of faraway coastal resorts – terraces of potatoes – hang gliders – wild flowers – and, Alison … !

Walk (95) Cho Pancho-La Cáscara Circular (San Miguel/Vilaflor)

Walk (94) Chirche-Sendero Tagara Circular (Guia de Isora)
A half-day excursion in the hills above the SW coast of Tenerife, rewarded by great wide-open views. Initially, the route traverses a number of barrancos on the path to El Jaral. It then ascends steeply, offering more scenic opportunities before dropping back to picture-postcard pretty Chirche …
