(108) Aripe-Chirche Circular (Guia de Isora)

Route Summary
This is a very satisfying short walk with a fairly gradual initial ascent. Echoes of traditional rural life are all around. The villages of Aripe and Chirche are pretty, with an old world ambience. There are good views up to the mountains, over to La Gomera and down to the coast.

(107) El Molledo-Degollada del Roque Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
At around 300 m overall ascent, there is a fair bit of up and down on this walk on rocky old caminos. The distance is short, however, and the scenic value is absolutely top notch, with spectacular panoramas at every turn on the track. Highly recommended!

(106) Vento-Camino Viejo Adeje Circular (Arona)

Route Summary
There are marvellous views on this walk – of the surrounding ancient volcanic landscape, the pleasant rural countryside around Arona, and down to the coast. However, the mid-section is rough walking on an, at times, unclear path, so is not recommended for inexperienced hikers.

(105) Arico Viejo-Bco Atalaya-Arico Nuevo Circular (Arico)

Route Summary

*** At Feb 2024, we have a walk report that the route is now obstructed by a large solar panels installation. ***

At 5.6 km in length, with a very modest 185 m overall ascent, this is a gentle introduction to walking in the wide-open landscapes of Arico with its golden stone terraces. There are great coastal views and to the mountains. Arico Nuevo is a very charming stop-off along the way.

(104) Mirador Narices del Teide-Easy Tajinaste Trail (National Park)

Route Summary
This easy walk provides an excellent opportunity to see the beautiful Tajinaste Rojo, the flowering plant that is emblematic of Tenerife. There are wonderful mountain views of Teide, Pico Viejo, the Narices del Teide, and the peaks at the western side of the Teide Caldera.

(103) La Higuera Ramble (Granadilla)

Route Summary
This is a short walk around the La Higuera area with a moderately strenuous overall ascent of just under 300m. From a pleasant rural landscape, characterised by ochre-coloured dry-stone walls, there are great views of Granadilla and down to the coast.

(102) Buzanada-Camino Luciano Circular (Arona)

Route Summary
***DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS WALK UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE***
We have reports that the landowner is blocking access between Waypoints 5 and 7. Do not attempt this walk until we can check out an alternative access route to Camino Luciano. Apologies for the inconvenience. Alison & John Mackenzie.

At 5km, with a very manageable overall ascent of 172m, this is a very accessible walk, close to the resorts and residential areas in the S of Tenerife. There are great views of the countryside and many close-by towns, but particularly of the grand and rugged volcanic landscape.

(101) Ifonche-Barranco del Agua Circular (Adeje)

Route Summary
A short but satisfying walk from the highland hamlet of Ifonche with exposure to rugged barrancos, pine forest, and rural farm terraces. The mid-section includes a steady ascent of over 200 m through the forest. There is a handy traditional bar/restaurant at the start/end point.

(100) Valle de Arriba-Vaguada de los Ovejeros Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
A relatively strenuous but highly recommended half-day hike in the hills above Valle de Arriba. With lots of rural interest along the way, there are tremendous views of the Teno Mountains and Teide in the first half, later giving way to glimpses of the North of the island.

(99) Granadilla-Ermita Santa Ursula Circular (Granadilla)

Route Summary
A relatively short walk, at just under 5 km, with a moderately strenuous overall ascent of 224 m, that combines interesting historical aspects of the town of Granadilla with the immediately adjoining countryside and pleasant suburbs. Great views in all directions along the way.

(98) El Jaral-Las Tres Cruces Circular (Guia de Isora)

Route Summary
Over a short distance there is a reasonably demanding overall ascent of almost 250 m that makes the route feel longer than it is. Wedged between two impressive barrancos, this hike above pretty El Jaral offers fine views in all aspects.

(97) Arguayo-Ermita Angel-Las Cabezadas Circular (Santiago del Teide)

Route Summary
Although not long, this route provides marvellous viewpoints on the initial ascent of twin-peaked La Hoya. After visiting a little ermita, the 2nd half of the walk ascends on old lava flows to the pines. The return is notable for the terraced tiers of former farm-land and “eras”.
